Weekly Construction Update: 10/26/2012

This week the following work was expected:

·         Ongoing preparation of floors for tiling in the Welcome Center

·         Begin tiling Welcome Center floor

·         Installation of southeast window in the Welcome Center

·         Ongoing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work in the Welcome Center ceiling

·         Installation of tile in the Working Sacristy

·         Installation of ceiling tiles in the Welcome Center

·         Installation of Welcome Center storefront

·         Finishing-up drywall installation in the Lower Level

·         Installation of millwork in the Lower Level Laundry Room

·         Plumbing work in the Lower Level Laundry Room

·         Continued drywalling and painting in the Office Tower around the elevator construction area

·         Installation of doors and hardware in the west Office Tower hallways

·         Frame and pour the east ramp retaining wall (north plaza)

·         Backfill with gravel around east ramp retaining wall

Next week the following work is expected:

·         Painting in the Office Tower west offices

·         Carpet installation in the west offices

·         Ongoing  installation of the Office Tower elevator

·         Continued framing and hanging drywall in the elevator lobbies on each floor

·         Work on the ceiling around the elevators

·         Ongoing preparation of floors for tiling in the Welcome Center

·         Ongoing tiling of the Welcome Center floor

·         Installation and wiring of loading dock gates

·         Installation of wall covering in the Welcome Center

·         Installation of millwork in the acolyte room

·         Final floor tiling in the lower level

·         Installation of door frame in the lower level

·         Painting the stairwell leading from the lower level/Great Hall to the current lobby

·         Clear equipment etc. from Burrill Hall to allow floor to be prepped for carpeting

·         Continued backfilling in east ramp

·         Shotcrete and waterproofing of the Cathedral foundation wall (East wall along North plaza)

·       Exterior cleaning of Office Tower

*The sidewalk on Huron will be closed through 11/9/2012. Be prepared to seek alternate routes to enter the office building*

·         Hanging and taping drywall in the Lower Level

·         Various tiling in the Lower Level

·         Replacement of Rush and Huron sidewalks adjacent to the North Plaza

·         Installation of elevator doors on all floors in the Office Tower

·         Framing, hanging, and taping drywall in west Office Tower hallways

·         Painting in the Office Tower around the elevator construction area

·         Installation of ceiling tiles in the west Office Tower hallways

Weekly Construction Update: 10/14/2012

This week the following work was expected:

·         CMU/cinder block wall patching around elevator doors

·         Reworking lights in and around west offices

·         Tile installation in the laundry room (lower level)

·         Installation of millwork (cabinetry, etc) in the laundry room (lower level)

·         Continued installation of ceiling tiles in the lower level

·          Continued clearing out Great Hall area to prepare for finishing

·         Installation of ceiling tiles in the Welcome Center

·         Construction of a temporary wall in the Welcome Center to separate construction site from Cathedral

·         Continued sidewalk replacement along Rush and Huron including replacement of curbs, adjustment of utility covers, and begin pouring concrete slabs.

Next week the following work is expected:

·         Installation of elevator doors

·         Continued tiling in the laundry room (lower level)

·         Continued Installation of millwork in the laundry room

·         Final painting of doors and frames in the lower level

·         Installation of miscellaneous hardware in the lower level

·         Installation of a handrail on lower level stairs

·         Continued installation of Welcome Center ceiling

·         Installation of sprinkler system and lights in the Welcome Center

·         Continued construction of the temporary wall between the construction area and Cathedral
